I love music. Listening to it on my walk to work, in the car; if there isn’t anything to watch on tv I’ll pop a music channel on and knit to my heat’s content. It’s an integral part of my daily life. I adore attending live music events and am signed up to a bunch of newsletters. If I see a band I like the look of…that’s it. I’m there. I’ve been going to gigs by myself for years and I love the freedom that comes with it. It’s my experience, it’s my way of connecting with other like minded people and sharing something…tribal…with them. It touches my soul and nourishes it.
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been DJing at one of my favourite clubs in SL, the Twisted Cork. It’s been baby steps so far but what excites me is the prospect of sharing something I love dearly with like minded people. It also gives the Boss a break from my incessant IMs asking for song requests. Now he can just tell me “play it yourself” and I can! He’s been my mentor through this experience and I’m enjoying learning a new craft. He jokes that they’ve ‘created a monster’ and maybe they’re right. But, somehow I don’t think so 🙂
If you’re ever at a loose end, come listen for yourself: Tuesdays 1-2.30PM SLT – my 90 min rock block at the Twisted Cork.
Enjoy x
