As my last post touched upon, I’ve been left in an unusual situation this weekend. Having planned a trip for what feels like forever, I’m now left twiddling my thumbs wondering what to do with my time. There have been little silver linings in my cloud though. A possible catch up with an old friend, unexpected time with loved ones, perhaps a little rl treat or two. This delay isn’t looking too bad after all 🙂

Those who can…Burlesque!

I love Burlesque. Yes, I know some only perceive it as women getting their kit off and shaking their tatas about. But, if you’ve ever been to a burlesque performance you realise quickly it’s so much more. Every show I’ve seen has incorporated women of all shapes and sizes and women with various levels of experience in performing. It’s been about empowering women to appreciate their bodies and have the confidence to stand up and state “this is me and I love myself.” And isn’t this what we, as women, should do for each other? Build each other up and support, rather than pull each other down?

Wade waist deep in the water

My friend Fauve and I recently worked together on a blogging project. During the preparation, we chatted a bit about how we put the scene together. Fauve has a very impressive process – mood board, scene scouting, RL influences and story telling – all which put me to shame when I said “I do what feels right and it just comes together.” One thing I fell in love with again during the collaboration was creative writing, which is why I intend to do more of it. But today, my influence is musical. I rediscovered this scene at Whole Wheat and just felt a need to wade into the water for the photograph. Since then, I keep having this song playing in my head:

A beautiful way to kick start the weekend, if I do say so myself.
