Sunday coffee

For me that is just what a Sunday is supposed to be. Getting up when you feel rested, grabbing a drink and lazily wandering wherever you want to go. It might be catching up with friends; it could be shopping. It might be a trip to the movies or Netflix on the couch. Dare to be sexy

I read a blogger application recently and the Store Owner had posted “include in your application a picture you’ve done that takes you outside of your comfort zone.” For me, the first thing that came to mind was this “dare to be sexy”. As women, it’s ‘ok’ to be “cute” or “the girl next door” or “the mother” or “the sister” … basically everything but overtly sexual. It still feels that if we step out confidently and choose to be sexy we’re either conforming to male gender stereotypes, we’re compromising our integrity or we’re doing it with some ulterior motive in mind. We shouldn’t be sexy by choice…but we can and we should allow ourselves that freedom if we choose.

Being sexy doesn’t mean stripping off and flaunting our bodies. It’s a state of mind; an attitude and how we carry ourselves. It’s confidence. It’s accepting who we are. It’s embracing our bodies and not hiding it underneath layers because we aren’t that size 6 on the clothes rack. It’s forgiving ourselves all our lumps and bumps, smiling and thinking “I’m great and I’m going to show you that I am an amazing person.” So, Ms. Store Owner, if you ever read this …. thank you. You’ve helped me step out of my comfort zone today ❤
